Vaccination of seafarers

Expansion scope Dutch programme for the Covid-19 vaccination of seafarers.

From Wednesday 1 September 2021 the scope of the Netherlands COVID-19 vaccination programme for seafarers will be expanded to all seafarers working on ships calling the ports of Delfzijl-Eemshaven, Amsterdam-IJmuiden, Rotterdam-Dordrecht-Moerdijk and Flushing Terneuzen. The nationality of the seafarer or the registration (flag) of the ship do not constitute a restriction. However, excluded are seafarers working on fishing vessels (except trawlers), government ships, yachts and ships not engaged on international voyages. Vaccination is administered by the Arbo Unie.

Appointments for vaccination can only be arranged by employers or ship agents that are based in the Netherlands. To be able to arrange appointments for vaccination, parties have to create an account first, which can be done here. By creating the account, one agrees with the terms and conditions applied by the Arbo Unie and is recognized by the latter as an approved business partner. The applicable procedures – the General Information and Part I (Dutch seaports) - can be downloaded from the KVNR website.

Vaccination at Schiphol Airport remains available to only seafarers working on Dutch ships (ship or ship manger registered in the Netherlands). Vaccination is administered by KLM Health Services. The applicable procedures – the General Information and Part II (Schiphol Airport) - can be downloaded from the KVNR website.
